There is a new website to make reservations for Kilgore Falls in the Falling Branch area. To make a reservation go to https://www.parkdayuse.maryland.gov Reservations are only required on weekends and holidays. St. Clement's Island State Park: Maintenance

Public access to the South Pier and the North Pier water taxi landing at St. Clements Island State Park has been suspended following recent safety inspections that identified structural concerns. The South section of the North Pier is still available.For your safety, please obey all posted signage and do not cross any barricades.

Greenbrier State Park: visitor notice
Greenbrier State Park
New electronic entry gate in use.Starting Friday, May 1, 2026, the new electronic entry gate at Greenbrier State Park will be in use. Visitors will use this gate when the toll booth is unmanned. The gate only accepts credit card. If you currently hold a Maryland Annual State Park and Trail Passport, a Maryland Golden Age Pass, or a Maryland Universal Disability Pass or are in the military or a veteran, please reach out to the park for instructions on how to receive a gate pass. Campers will receive gate instructions upon checking in for their reservation.A temporary closure is now in effect for a portion of the Big Red Trail on the west side of Greenbrier Lake due to dam infrastructure improvements. The section of trail along the backside of the lake will be closed for walking and the dam area will be inaccessible for boating and fishing. Visitors should follow posted signage and use alternate trail routes until work is complete.

Big Run State Park: Maintenance
Big Run State Park
ALERT-Effective September 8, 2026, Big Run Road will be CLOSED 1,000 FEET NORTH OF THE INTERSECTION WITH SAVAGE RIVER ROAD while crews complete the replacement of the existing culvert with a new bridge. The closure is expected to remain in effect through December, 2026. This closure is necessary to facilitate the safe installation of a new bridge structure on the lower end of Big Run Road. The Garrett County Roads Department and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources appreciate the patience and cooperation of all residents, commuters, and visitors during this important infrastructure improvement project.All campsites on Big Run Road, including Campsites 123-144, Campsites 60-75, the Creekside Group Campsite, and the Monroe Run Group Campsite*, will be accessible only by following New Germany Road to Big Run Road. There will be no access to Big Run Road from Savage River Road. Campsites 78-89 and the Big Run Pavilion will be accessible only from Savage River Road. There will be no access to Savage River Road from Big Run Road.*The Monroe Run Group Campsite will not have electric service during the construction period.
